Argh!!! It looks like I'm going to have to pick out some new wheels. Centerline discontinued the Meteor series. The really crappy part of this, is I ordered the wheels 7 weeks ago, and just today found out they are discontinued. And of course, I was waiting on the wheels before I drop the engine. I'm bummed.

Picture of the drivers footbox all rivited up! And... the tranny and clutch assembly is bolted to the engine! Now if I only had my wheels.

I got the drivers side foodbox siliconed and rivited in place. I'm off to denver for the next few days, so no car progress is going to be make.

Not much is going to happen to the car for the rest of the month. Work has really picked up, and I'm going to be taking two business trips to Denver before the end of the month.

I did, however, drop off the flywheel with Keith Craft Motorsport to have them press in the pressure plate alignment dowels. I tried to do it myself, and rather than screw something up, I decided it would just be easier to have them do it.

I also cut the gas pedal mount off of the frame. I don't need it there as I'm using an aftermarket gas pedal, and the standard mount actually gets in the way of the aftermarket one.

My goal for the remainder of the month is to get the drivers side footbox siliconed and rivited inplace, and to get the flywheel, pressure plate, bellhousing, clutch, transmission assembly assembled. Once all that is done, The engine will get dropped in.

Not much got done on the cobra over the weekend (sorry Neil) as I was as sick as a dog. Here is a recap of Saturday.
  • 4:00am - puke
  • 6:00am - more puke
  • 7:00am - BARF!
  • 9:00am - Hurl
  • 11:00am - again with the puking
  • 11:30am - dry heaves(oh joy)
And to cap it all off, I was running a 101.8 degree fever, and of course my body felt like I had gotten the snot beat out of me. Not to mention that my stomach muscles hurt like a son of a bitch.

But fear not, all is good on monday night, as Santa delivered some late gifts. My bag o' bolts came in, as did my fuel pickup and my fuel hose. Not to mention my aluminum clutch quadrant. The clutch quadrant got installed, replacing the plastic mustang donor one. The fuel pickup is in. The fuel filter and fuel hose is also in.

I'm feezing the pressure plate dowels hoping that it won't be necessary to bake my flywheel. More on that tomorrow.

Well, I decided I didn't like the way the black POR looked on the frame, so I drilled out all the rivits, removed all the aluminum panels, and removed all the suspension components. Then I sanded most of the POR 15 off. Basically the plan is to start over from scratch and do things right.

Well, not really, this is what the bare frame looked like before it was painted and anything was attached.

Not a lot done on the car tonight. The family spent 3 hours at the hospital in the ER, because Tommy was getting stitches. He was a brave little boy and had 3 stitches on his forehead. He was running around and fell, hit the wall, slid down and hit the edge of the window sill.

I did get the trunk side wall on the drivers side all drilled and cleco'ed in place. You can just barely see it in the drivers side full view picture below.

I ordered some missings bolts necessary to get the engine and transmission ready to drop in. I also ordered an aluminum clutch quadrant replacement. It will be easier to install that before the engine goes in. Fuel lines and fuel pickup have still not arrived, grrrr.

I drilled and cleco'ed the lower trunk and the passenger side trunk wall. A rough estimate would be 120 holes drilled twice. Once through the aluminum off the car, then again through those holes as guides into the frame. Here is a shot of the whole car to date.

I took the flywheel off the engine and temporarily put the starter plate and bell housing on the engine. It looks like I'm missing every bolt necessary to get this stuff hooked up. I'm going to have to go to the Ford dealer or hardware store on Monday and order 16 bolts.

I trimmed my transmission per instructions.

I also picked up a used 22 gal 5 hp air compressor for $75.

And of course, my fuel lines and pickup still haven't arrived. Grrrrr!

You can't flare the end of a 3/8" line that isn't straight. The problem is, the fuel lines I ran where cut at a bend. So, those lines had to come off, and I started all over again with the remaining fuel line that I had left all coiled up.

After probably more cursing than the first time I ran the lines, I'm much more happy with they way they turned out. The pictures below show how they are run, starting with the front and running back to the rear of the car.

Of course my new fuel tank pickup insert and 3/8" fuel hose has not been delivered yet, so I can't finish them all together.
